CHAPTER 25: JACE (THE GENTLE WHISPER OF THE UNKNOWN)

by Angela Dawne

Jace couldn’t believe that the dragon was staring at him. He could have sworn that they had gone opposite directions. He looked around for Regina and Zak but then remembered that they had gone out looking for kindling for the breakfast fire.

The dragon tilted it’s head at him, as though daring him to follow. Jace took three steps forward. Without any warning, the dragon spread its wings and took off, with Addy in its claws.

Ashlyn

The silence is deafening. My eyes fly open and I see Aisley. She’s shouting at me, leaning over me and yelling. I wince and try to pull away from her angry face, but there’s nowhere to go.

She looks furious. What have I done?

She yells at me some more, but she’s moving so much that I can’t make out what she’s saying. Her lips are in constant motion, making sounds I can not hear.

What’s that?

HEALED: RUINED AND REDEEMED

by Angela Dawne

“Akela,” Lucius replied. Then instantly corrected himself. “I mean, Lucius.” Benjamin looked at him curiously but didn’t ask.

Lucius reddened and turned away. Walking hastily towards his tent, he blinked fast, forcing the wetness in his eyes to disappear. He was no longer Akela Corey Anselm. He was Lucius Magnus. Optio of the sixth legion. Second in command.
